Term 3, 2025 – Newsletter

Thanks for another great term @ MTG Judo Club

Sensei Jerome, Sensei Jake, and Bettina would like to thank everyone for making Term 3 such a success. Plans for Term 4 are already well underway, and we’re excited to finish the year with a fantastic couple of months of judo. We have a new timetable for Term 4, and as always, gradings will take place throughout Term 4 — more details below.

New Class Timetable

We’ve made a small adjustment to our Monday classes, starting 30 minutes earlier to make sure we all get home before turning into pumpkins! 🥋🎃

MONDAY:

  • Juniors: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • Seniors: 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Thursday (no changes):

  • Juniors: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
  • Seniors: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Term 4 Gradings

This term, eligible judoka will be assessed for their gradings. Many of you already have your curriculum sheets; if you’re new to the club, please see one of your Senseis to collect a copy.

Grading assessments will take place throughout Term 4 and will cover:

  • Nage Waza (Throwing Techniques)
  • Ne Waza (Ground Techniques)
  • General Knowledge
  • And more!

Grading fees (including belts and certificates) are already covered within your membership. Please note: a condition of grading is that judoka must be current members of Judo Queensland. If your membership has expired or you haven’t yet registered, please head HERE to renew or sign up.

To be considered for grading, members are also expected to maintain consistent attendance and uphold high standards of behaviour on and off the mat.

Presentations of certificates and belts will take place in the final week of Term 4 or at our end-of-year breakup party (TBA). Gradings are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the progress and commitment you’ve shown throughout the year — we’re excited to recognise everyone’s hard work, so keep it up!

Celebrating our competitors!

This term saw the annual MTG Judo Club Competition, where many of our judoka stepped onto the mat for the very first time. A huge congratulations to all competitors, especially those who were brave enough to take that first leap!

A big thank you also goes out to all the clubs who came to support our comp, and an extra special thanks to Srdjan, Jeremy, and the Shin-Gi-Tai Judo Club team for stepping up to help when the weather took a turn. The judo community in Queensland is strong, and we’re so grateful to have such supportive friends on and off the mat.
